Dear Lord, Bangkok is hot! Phew! Since it is the last leg of what I dubbed our Oriental tour, we are slowing things down and not doing much of the touristy stuff. We are here to sample Thai Cuisine people, we focusing on that and only that 😊!

Our initial hotel, The Cabochon hotel turned out to be a real bummer. Nice as the place was, unfortunately we had to move due to the noise from construction work happening right outside our window!

The noise levels? err no!

What ticked us off even more was there was no mention of this even though we had made the reservation in January 😱. Nevertheless, we are not going to let this ruin our holiday. We found another hotel – Adelphi Suites which is fantastic! Lovely room, epic views, gym and the metro is just down the street! Plus, it was far cheaper than our initial hotel #winning

see what I mean?

We explored the city today, went to china town, used the metro, found the world renowned Rann Jay Fai restaurant (we are eating there tomorrow) I can hardly contain my excitement. She is one of the reasons we are in Bangkok and I can not wait to eat her crab omelette.

Kinaaree was a recommendation by the concierge at Adelphi suites and it was spot on. It was no more than 400 yards from the hotel and boi was I glad because, the heat was ON and going out looked LOOOOONNNG! As you probably guessed, the menu was loaded with so many options. Gosh! Thai food and eating style really puts tapas style eating to shame. My oriental / Asian people take small plate eating to a whole new level and I am here for it 🙋‍♀️! We had a selection of dishes – starters to be precise, because, outchea in these Bangkok streets starter portions are huge.

So remember my spicy welcome? Aka the lemon and fish soup in Baan khanita? It was on the menu here, so I reckon it is a traditional dish. So, I did the needful and decided to try it here. It was served hot and on a flame, tasted was more lemony than spicy. Don’t get me wrong it still had a kick to it, but I have to say I preferred the one in Baan Khanita.

The cocktails here are interesting – tall glasses of sweet, refreshing alcoholic drinks lol. No, I didn’t turn the bar here into my watering hole like we did in Long bar in Ho Chin Minh City 🤦‍♀️ Let’s just say that we did become very much acquainted with the staff.

Ok Bangkok! I see you!
